How tuition works

  • What sets tuition

What sets tuition is the kind of class: a band class for a ten-week season, or a band class with a private lesson each week. A band rehearses for 90 minutes, and a lesson is 30 minutes. Our figures are on the enrollment page, and we go over them at your first class.

    • Band class: a weekly rehearsal for a ten-week season

    • Band class plus a lesson: a private lesson on your instrument or voice

    • Returning bands: the same season, with your band and coach

    • Open hall time and instrument rental are separate; ask at your first class

  • Registration

A yearly registration covers your student file, a first listen with a coach and your place in a band. It is due when you sign up, and the amount is on the enrollment page.

  • Holding a place

Your place in a band is held once your first payment is made. When a band is full, we keep a waitlist by level and send an offer by email as a spot opens. Returning players hold their spot for the next season before sign-up opens to everyone.

  • Billing

A season is billed once at the start, or in two payments across the ten weeks. Autopay is set up when you enroll. A season is paid in full, so it is not pay-as-you-go.

  • Withdrawing

We ask for two weeks' written notice to leave during a season, and a season in progress is paid through the notice. Between seasons, tell us before sign-up opens for the next one.

  • Missed classes and make-ups

If you miss a rehearsal, your coach sends the plan for the week and your band plays on; a band rehearsal is not made up. A private lesson you miss with a day's notice is moved to another time in the same month.
