Questions
Questions, answered
Do I need to have played in a band?
No. First bands are for players who have never been in one. A coach listens to you for a few minutes at a class to try, and you are placed from there.
I stopped playing years ago. Is it too late?
Many of our players stopped for years. Returning bands are made of people who want to play again, at a pace that suits them.
Do I need my own instrument?
Bring your own guitar, bass, horn or sticks if you have them, and ask your coach before you buy or rent. The hall has a house drum kit, amps, keyboards and microphones set up.
How is a band formed?
A coach hears each player, and we put together players of a similar level, with a mix of instruments and voices. You pick songs together with your coach.
Do I have to play the showcase night?
A season ends with a showcase night, and most players want one. If you would rather not, tell your coach and we will talk it over.
Can friends and family come?
Yes. Showcase nights are open to guests, and the hall opens an hour before the first band. During a season, rehearsals are for the band; a guest can ask a coach first.
How does tuition work?
A season is ten weeks, billed by the season or in two payments. The tuition page explains what sets it and how make-ups and notice work.
How long is a season?
A season is ten weeks, with a showcase night in week 10. There are three seasons a year: fall, winter and spring.
What if I miss a rehearsal?
Your coach sends the plan for the week and your band plays on. Band rehearsals are not made up, and the open hall night is there if you want more time.
How old do I need to be?
Classes are for adults, 18 and up, of any age. We do not take younger players.
